Community Wide Local Climate Action
We believe in the power of collective action to restore balance between people and nature. Coming from a community that has faced deforestation and loss of tree cover due to poverty and historical injustices — including the cutting down of trees in the 1970s to chase away tsetse flies — we are committed to regeneration and renewal.
Since 2020, we’ve implemented purpose-driven projects that focus on tree planting, distribution, and environmental restoration. Through initiatives like Healing Trees, where we planted trees in remembrance of lives lost to COVID-19, we have so far planted and distributed over 30,000 trees across Busia County.
Our goal is to reforest Samia Sub-county and the wider Busia region, while nurturing a culture of environmental stewardship. Alongside this, we organize clean-up drives along the Lake Victoria shores, empowering communities to take ownership of local climate solutions and protect the environment that sustains them.
